About Me
Isobel Cawley (Issy)
Pronouns-She/Her
My journey to becoming an Art Psychotherapist came from my own healing, after trying talking therapy on and off for years I met a wonderful Art Therapist who guided me on a new journey. She created space for me to heal, allowing me to become aware of my own body, needs and boundaries. As well as becoming more present in the here and now. This non-verbal processing allowed me to release the pain I was holding onto, giving myself space to feel empowered and stronger.  Art Therapy combined my passion for supporting others and my love of art.
I qualified as an Art Psychotherapist from the University of Chester in 2022.
HCPC registration -Â AS018059
In 2019 I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA in Fine Art.
What is Art Therapy?
‘Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.’-BAAT
Art therapy is a safe, confidential environment, meaning anything said or made is treated with the same confidence.
Within a session there can be a combination of art making and reflection.
Art Therapy is not an art lesson, it is a non-judgemental space.
Art therapy doesn’t have to rely on words, sometimes the image is enough.
You will be invited to choose any art materials.
Sessions can be a place for experimentation and play.
Various materials will be provided, such as pens, pencils, paints, clay, chalk and mixed media. These will all encourage you to explore and therefore be able to channel your emotions in a safe space.
Art therapy is a confidential space, therefore any images you make you can keep, destroy or these can be stored confidentially.
Art Therapy can also take place online.
